Dear Parents,
The beginning of school is such an exciting time! It’s full of new friends, new experiences, new challenges, and a new building. Please take the time to discuss each school day with your child. Your interest will play an important role in your child’s learning success.
My name is Nicole Krause and I look forward to being your child’s third grade teacher. I grew up in Davison but have many family ties to the LakeVille district. I am married to Matt Krause, a chemist at Dow Chemical and we have a three year old son named Trevor.
I graduated from Central Michigan University in May 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I completed my Masters in the Art of Teaching through Marygrove College in April 2005. This will be the start of my eighteenth year with LakeVille and my fifteenth year teaching third grade.
I am looking forward to a great year. As you know, third grade can be a very big step as the students begin to take more responsibility for their assignments and organization. Following are the classroom procedures that I feel you should be aware of in order to help your child do their best this year. If you have any questions please feel free to call me at 591-3455 or send a note with your child in their planner. You can also email me at [email protected]. I’ll be glad to answer your questions at any time.
Grading procedures: The children will be given plenty of time to complete their assignments if they do not waste their time. Any assignments not finished are considered to be homework and will be due the next morning. I grade all papers on a percentage scale. 100-94% A, 93-90 A-, 89-87 B+, 86-84 B, 83-80 B-, 79-77 C+, 76-74 C, 73-70 C-, 69-67 D+, 66-64 D, 63-60 D-, 59-0 E. Graded papers will be returned to students as soon as possible. Any assignment scoring 75% or below may be fixed and returned.
Absences: It is very important for your child to be in school as much as possible, however, in the event that he or she is ill or unable to attend, please send an email or note explaining the reason or notify the office. They will still be responsible for making up any missed assignments.
Snacks: The children may bring a snack for our snack break. I try to encourage good nutrition so please do not send sweets. The children may bring a water bottle to drink if they choose but nothing else. No other drinks (juice, pop, etc.) are allowed.
Toys: The school can not be held responsible for personal items that are lost, broken, or stolen. If toys are brought to school and played with during class time, they will be put in my desk for the remainder of the year or until I receive a note from you.
Once again, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to a great school year working with you and your child. Together we can make your child’s third grade year a complete success!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nicole Krause
